The Little Things: August Birthdays

I am a little late on these, but Happy Birthday to Patty (8/25) and Happy 4th Birthday to Landon (8/28). We missed dinner at Chuck E Cheese, but joined every one after for cupcakes and presents. Eddie, Edison and I were lucky enough to get Landon the skateboard he had been wanting and he loved it! Hopefully he doesn’t hurt himself.

The Little Things: Outings

On Saturday night, Eddie and I had our first date night minus Edison. We celebrated the marriage of Amanda and Grant. Everything was beautiful and perfect. Katelyn and family watched Edison for us. He was a little fussy, but they enjoyed their time.

Last night we took Edison to his first Isotopes Game. At first he was not too impressed. Once he woke up, he enjoyed everything that was going on. All of Eddie’s friends loved meeting the little man.

Edison is now smiling intentionally and I finally got a picture of him. Enjoy!

The Little Things: Happy Blogaversary

First, I would like to wish my friend Samantha a very happy 30th birthday today!

Happy Blogaversary to me! One year ago today I started blogging and I am so proud of myself for sticking with it. I originally started it hoping it would become a baby blog, and that came true in November when I found out I was expecting. In July we welcomed Edison, and now I get to share all of the ups and downs with you.

The Little Things: Mommy’s Day Out and One Month Stats

On Sunday, I was able to break away for some much needed time with the girls. We celebrated Samantha’s 30th at Sandia’s pool. It was a wonderful day, and I am so glad I made it work. Edison was also an angel that night. I was really tired and he didn’t punish me. I am so lucky.

Of course, Eddie did an amazing job with Edison while I was gone. Although a little sympathy as to how hard it is would have been nice. I guess I need to stay away longer next time. While Mom’s away, the boys will play, and did they!

Eddie is brewing me a Pumpkin Spice Porter, to be ready in October. I can’t wait! I am hoping it is my favorite one yet.

A little late, but Edison had a one month weight and height check today. He is weighing in at 9.7 pounds and is 21.75 inches long. Here I am thinking he is getting so big, but he is only in the 25th percentile for length and the 17th percentile for weight. Is this really right???

The Little Things: One Month Already!?! And Only!?!

I can’t believe Edison is one month already! It has gone by so fast. It’s also hard to believe that he has been in our lives for only a month now. I can’t imagine our lives without our sweet little man.

The pediatrician’s office was really busy this week, due to school starting on Monday, so we have to wait until next week to check Edison’s stats. He has now outgrown all of his newborn clothes, but the 3 month clothes are too big.

This week we introduced Edison to a bottle and to formula. I was worried, but he did fine. The breast milk in the bottle was not a problem, except for I first gave him a fast nipple. Oooops! The formula was a little harder. He was not sure of the taste at first and made some funny faces. He eventually drank it though. Yay! Now I can play with the girls this weekend.

Here are a few of my favorite pics!

Thanks Amanda for my personalized outfit!

The Little Things: Three Weeks – Already!

One of the many things I have learned in these past three weeks is how my priorities have changed. Sorry I have not posted anything in a while, but I think I am back, and hopefully will have at least one post a week.

Last Monday, Edison had his two week check up.  At that appointment he weighed 7.4 pounds (50th percentile) and 20 inches tall (75th percentile.)  He is growing very well, and will be out of newborn clothing soon.

Last week, I also had my two week follow up appointment from my c-section, and I am healing wonderfully. I still walk at a slower pace, but other than that you wouldn’t really know I had surgery three weeks ago. I am feeling great, and I know how lucky I am.

Eddie’s Mom and Zion left us on Thursday night after being here for over two weeks. We had a wonderful time with both of them. Zion loved his little brother so much. It was so nice to have Gabby here especially with all of the cooking and cleaning she did. While we hated to see them leave, it is nice to have some alone time and to start figuring out what our new normal is going to be.

Today is my second day alone with the little man, and we are surviving. We started what will hopefully be our daily morning walks today. Edison was awake the whole time, but didn’t make a sound. Diego walked perfectly next to the stroller. Both of them made it very enjoyable for me. Both Edison and I took baths this morning, so if we get nothing else accomplished today, it’s going to be okay.

Diego is doing so well with Edison. A lot better than I thought he would. He is very tolerant of him, and really only gets jealous when guests come over.

We are figuring everything out, and can’t wait for what’s to come.

The Little Things: Edison Xavier

It’s a Boy! Edison Xavier was born on Monday, July 9th at 8:57 am. Weighing in at 6 pounds 14 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long.

Birth Story below…if you care.

At my 36 week pre-natal appointment, it was confirmed that Edison was still in a breeched position. While reading about versions (turning the baby) I was really unsure about that. Luckily my doctor did not think it would be successful due to my size and lack of fluids. It was decided at this appointment that I would be scheduled for a c-section delivery in my 39th week. The following week it was scheduled for Tuesday July 10th, and the waiting game began.

Due to my scoliosis surgery when I was 14, I was told that an epidural was not an option and general anesthesia would be necessary. Among other things, the bummer with this is I would be asleep and I did not want to be the last to know the gender. On Thursday, July 5th I had my last pre-natal appointment. My doctor was so nice to do an ultra sound to try and figure out the gender. I was not sure when I wanted to find this out, but I know I wanted to with Eddie, so she wrote it down and sealed the envelope. Eddie and I did not want anything to change, and I did not think I could know and not tell people, so we decided that we would open it on the way to the hospital.

Once again, Edison had to have things his way. Early Monday morning around 3:30am I started feeling contractions. I got up and started timing them. They were not consistent, but I called the message line and was told to head to the hospital. I woke up Eddie, we both showered, Katelyn came and picked up Zion and we were at the hospital by around 6:30am. We did not open the envelope because we were not sure if it was a go.

I was quickly admitted, and then things got crazy after that. The anesthesiologist was convinced that a spinal block would work on me so we decided to go that route. The benefits were that I would be awake and Eddie and I could be in the room. Again, we did not open the envelope, because we were going to find out soon enough, right? Well, the spinal block did not work like it should of and I ended up being put to sleep. However, Eddie was allowed in the room, and was able to cut the umbilical cord.

I woke up and heard people saying Edison, and asked is it a boy? I was told yes. I was shortly moved to go meet my son and be with Eddie. I had never seen Eddie hold a new born before, but he looked so happy and natural with his son.

Our little man is perfect and we are loving every minute with him. He is doing well, and I am too!

Trucks or Princesses?

Today I had my final Doctors appointment before next week’s birthday party! Everything looks good. Both of our mother’s made comments that it must be a boy, since it is already misbehaving by sitting heads up! I am finally getting anxious about Baby E’s arrival and to find out if our life will be consumed with trucks and balls or princesses and dolls.

First things first, big brother Zion arrives tonight. We can’t wait to see him. At least we get one weekend with him before Baby E arrives. It’s going to be a busy weekend for him and Eddie. I believe some homemade rootbeer will be brewed, some BBQ eating will take place at the Pork and Brew, and hopefully an Isotopes game will be fit it.

Let our crazy and exciting month now begin!

The Little Things: Friday’s Five

I really try to keep this blog positive with no ranting or complaining, but something has got to give. This almost Mama, could really use some relief from this heat!  Please! This is looking like the last weekend of it being just Eddie and I. I hope I can enjoy it.

Burt’s Bee’s Mama Bee Body Oil – As my belly started getting bigger, my cocoa butter lotion just wasn’t doing the trick anymore. This was recommended in one of the blogs I read, so I thought I would give it a try. It has a fresh lemon scent, and soaks into the skin nicely. Hopefully it will keep away those nasty stretch marks for the next 11 days.

A/C That Works In My Car – My A/C in my car worked, just not that great. I put up with it because I thought it was going to be an expensive fix at the mechanic. Little did I know that Eddie could fix it for $40. I am still not sure why I put up with for so long, but I am so happy to have ice cold air again.

Eddie’s Homemade Guacamole With Homegrown Jalapeno’s – Our jalapeno plant is going crazy, so I bought all the rest of the ingredients for Eddie to make his homemade guacamole. I am so lucky to have him and his family recipes!

Evironne Fruit and Veggie Wash – I probably should have bought this when I first found out I was pregnant, but I will be nursing, and its never too late. I bought it for $4 at Trader Joe’s but I am sure it is available at other places. I will never know if it really works, but I think it is worth the extra effort and $4 if it washes away anything.

Dos Hermano’s – I am so happy to announce that Dos Hermano’s has reopened their location on Jefferson. I am so happy about this. It may be very hot out, but I will always be up for some Dos!

The Little Things: Ding!

Ding! Baby E is all done cooking! I am 37 weeks now and considered full term. This means that Baby E can come anytime now, and will be completely healthy. The bassinet is set up, the car seat in installed, all of the baby’s clothes and blankets are washed, and the hospital bags are packed! Now, it’s just a waiting game! Baby E, we are ready to meet you. Your arrival is WELCOME!

Thank you to the Chavez Family for an adorable place for Baby E to sleep the first month.

Thank you to the Omni's, Amanda and Rosalie for my car seat to keep my baby safe!

A special congrats goes out to one of my besties and her new family. Meagan and Ryan welcomed Mason Jeremy Reister early Saturday morning in Orlando Florida. He is absolutely perfect! I really wish I could meet him.

The Little Things: Friday’s Five

The 9th Month – I have finally reached the 9th month, and I could not be more excited. Everyone said it is the worst, and I would have to agree. I am pretty uncomfortable. I am also kinda grumpy and irritable. At least it will all be worth it in a few weeks.

A big belly!

Breastfeeding Class - This week Eddie and I took a Breastfeeding class. It really was not necessary for Eddie to go, but I love how involved he is in every aspect. It was a great class and I learned a lot. My only complaint is it was too short. I felt there was more information that could have been covered. I am sure I can read up on it.

Summer Hits Of The 80’s – Sometimes Pandora stations can get a little stale like the radio. I am so happy I stumbled upon the Station ‘Summer hits of the 80’s.’ I have really been enjoying it today.

TLC Summer Shows – Eddie and I cam across two new shows on TLC that are pretty entertaining. They are ‘On the Fly’ and ‘America’s Worst Tattoo’s.’ On the Fly is about Southwest Airlines and their customer service, and the other one is pretty obvious although it is about getting new tattoo’s to cover up the old ones.

Big Deal About The Boss’s Birthday -  Sunday is my Boss’s Paul’s Birthday, so we are celebrating today. He is very funny and last year told us we did not do enough. Ask and you shall receive. This year we hung balloon’s all down the street, and hung up a funny photos of him all over the studio. We created a stage for him for our morning meeting, and of course there will be cake later. Again, he has said we did not go over the top enough. Ha! Guess we better start planning next year already. Check out this funny video he wrote and directed. It’s about 10 minutes.

Have a great weekend!

The Little Things: Happy Father’s Day and Friday’s Five

To all the Dads I know, Happy Father’s Day. I would like to thank my Dad for always being an amazing Father and person. I am the woman I am today because of you. I love you very much.

<3

Also, happy father’s day to my wonderful husband, Eddie. I love watching you with Zion, and I can’t wait for you to meet our baby. All of us are so lucky to have you. We love you.

Eddie and his Mini Me!

Eddie is in Vegas this weekend, and while I am already missing him very much, there are a few things I love about having the house to myself for a weekend.

Catching Up On The DVR – I am so excited to have the TV and DVR to myself. I have a bunch of shows recorded that I really need to catch up on.

Hogging The Bed – I love when I can hog the bed, the covers, the pillows, all of it. Diego also loves it because he gets to sleep in the bed when Eddie is gone!

Being Productive – I know that I am more productive when Eddie is gone. I am especially going to love it this weekend with all of  the final baby prepping to do.

Cooking (Or Not) For 1 – I actually prefer cooking for 2, however sometimes it is great cooking (or not) only for myself. I love eating whatever I want on my schedule.

My Guard Dog – Diego may be small, but he is a great guard dog when Eddie is gone. I love that he knows he has to protect me.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!

The Little Things: Maternity Portraits

On Saturday evening Jessica with the help of Rebecca photographed Eddie and I right before sunset. There are many, many more that I love, but I thought this is a good variety.

Thank you Jessica. We love them!

The Little Things: Third and Final Baby Shower

First, I want to say Congrats to the Brown family! Today they welcomed Baby Grady. He is perfect, and I can’t wait to see even more photos of him.

Yesterday, I had my third and final baby shower! I continue to be so amazed by the generosity of everyone. Baby E is loved by so many already. I only have a few things left to get, and I have gift cards to cover them. We are so blessed.

The adorable centerpieces, cupcakes, cake pops and invitation.

They tasted just as good as they looked!
The chaos that is opening gifts!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to celebrate with me yesterday. It really meant a lot to have you there. And for those who could not make it, I missed you.

Katelyn, Meghan, Patty and my Mom were wonderful Hostesses! Everything was perfect, and I could not have asked for a better shower. A special thank you to Katelyn and Brian for having it at their house and for having grass to enjoy!

The games may have been a little unfair with a certain ‘teacher’ present, however the bottle chugging game was pretty entertaining.

Only 5 more weeks until my due date! After next weekend, I will be very ready to welcome Baby E into this world.

The Little Things: Goodbye Grandma

Yesterday the world lost an amazing woman. You will be missed Grandma.
